SLC Tourney Kicks off Friday
TEMPE, Ariz. – The campus of Arizona State University will be the site of the 2024 Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) tournament from April 26-28 featuring four teams in each division.
The winners of the SLC tournaments will earn an automatic qualifying berth to the 2024 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance.
BRACKETS: Division I | Division II
The Division I bracket will feature rematches of a pair of regular-season finales.
Top-seeded Arizona State will clash with archrival and No. 4 seed Arizona on Friday afternoon. The Sun Devils defeated the Wildcats, 12-7. San Diego State downed Chapman on Saturday, 11-10, but because of a three-way tiebreaker, the Panthers will be the higher seed in Friday night’s rematch.
Like Division I, all four of the D-II SLC programs will enter Saturday’s conference semifinals with a national ranking.
Cal State San Marcos, the top seed out of the South subdivision, will faceoff with Loyola Marymount on Saturday morning while Northern Arizona, the top squad out of the North, squares off with UC San Diego at noon.
“The fact that all eight of our tournament teams are nationally ranked gives you a good indication of what we’re going to get this weekend,” said SLC director Matt Holman. “Every team will be battling for national consideration and seeding. It’s going to be exciting!”
