Chapman’s Bohlinger Earns PEARL Accolade
ATLANTA – After backstopping Chapman to a pair of ranked road victories over the weekend, Panthers senior netminder Jason Bohlinger has been named the MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 25.
Chapman opened the weekend on Saturday in San Luis Obispo taking on No. 19 Cal Poly. Thanks to nine saves and just five goals against (64.3 save percentage) from the Yorba Linda, Calif., product, the third-ranked Panthers breezed to a 14-5 triumph.
At No. 15 UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, Bohlinger was once again impressive. In a gritty, 6-5 win over the Gauchos, Bohlinger made 14 saves (73.7 save percentage) to provide the difference.
For the weekend, Bohlinger accumulated 23 saves against just nine goals against – a save percentage of 71.9 and a goals against average of 5.00.
“Jason is the ultimate warrior,” said Chapman coach Joel Kallas. “Day in and day out, he continues to battle through the harsh physical, mental and emotional situations that every lacrosse goalie can attest to.
“Even though he is repeatedly facing these adverse conditions, he stands tall and will give his team his 110 percent effort. Because of this attitude, and his leadership on and off the field, I can confidently say that he is more than deserving of the PEARL Goalie of the Week award.”
For winning the PEARL Goalie of the Week honor, Bohlinger will receive a PEARL swag bag of goodies that will include PEARL lacrosse balls – the official ball of the MCLA.
