RICHMOND, Va. – After winning back-to-back Atlantic Lacrosse Conference (ALC) Division II championships, UNC-Charlotte has been tabbed the favorite to win the league in 2024, according to the preseason coaches poll.
The 49ers gobbled up all nine first-place votes to easily sit atop the poll. Charlotte, which returns a loaded line-up this spring, was a dozen points clear of second-ranked Wake Forest.
Coastal Carolina, which lost to Charlotte, 11-9, in last year’s ALC title tilt, checks in at No. 3 followed by UNC-Wilmington in fourth.
Newcomers Virginia Tech and William Mary are slotted at No. 5 and No. 7 respectively, with The Citadel – an ALC tourney semifinalist – sandwiched in between.
