CLC Releases Tournament Info
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Continental Lacrosse Conference (CLC) returns to Game On Sports Center for its 2023 conference tournament this weekend, April 29-30.
Each CLC division winner will receive an automatic berth to the 2023 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance, which will be held at the Round Rock (Texas) Multipurpose Complex from May 8-13.
BRACKETS: DIVISION I | DIVISION II
The Division I semifinals will commence at 1 p.m. on Saturday with top-seed Boston College (8-2) squaring off with Connecticut (3-6). The Eagles and Huskies played their regular season contest last Saturday with BC posting the 13-5 victory aided by a hat trick from Kyle Cuklanz.
The second semifinal features second-seeded New Hampshire (6-6) against third seed Northeastern (10-4) at 4 p.m. This is a rematch of an April 16 game in which the Wildcats pulled an 8-5 upset against the No. 11 Huskies thanks to 11 saves from Michael Nassif.
The Division II contests will be running concurrently with Division in the 1 and 4 p.m. time slots.
The opening semifinal features South top seed – and the No. 1 team in the country – Rhode Island (12-1) facing Stonehill (6-2), the second seed out of the North. The two teams faced off in the regular season on March 23 with the Rams rolling to an 18-5 triumph.
In the second semifinal, North top seed Maine (5-2) battles South second seed Central Conn. State (5-5). The two teams did not meet during the regular season.
“We are looking forward to returning to Game On this weekend,” said CLC director Donald Vince. “BC and URI return to defend their titles. Northeastern, UNH, UConn and CCSU are back for another shot.
“Stonehill returns after a four-year absence and Maine enters the fray for the first time. Champions will be crowned on Sunday, with Fitchburg State and Framingham State closing the day with our second-ever Division III championship game.”
Admission is $10 a day with those 10 and under getting in free. Students of CLC member institutions are $5 (payable in cash, Venmo or PayPal). There is no live streaming for the tournament.
