ATLANTA – After leading USC to its first-ever conference championship and first trip to nationals, Trojans junior midfielder Harri Hetrick has earned MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week honors for the period ending May 1.

In the semifinals against No. 12 Arizona, the Mill Valley, Calif., native struck for three goals while also dishing out an assist in the Trojans 15-13 triumph.

On Sunday, USC tangled with No. 15 Grand Canyon with an automatic berth in the 2022 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance on the line, and again Hetrick delivered.

He buried five goals and set up a sixth as the Trojans captured the 16-15 victory.

For the weekend, the middie dropped eight goals and two dimes as USC now prepares for Round Rock for the first time.

“Harri is not only one of our more talented players, he’s a vocal leader in practice, pregame and on the field, and backs it up with his play,” said USC coach Jake Van Nostrand. "He expects and strives for excellence of himself, his teammates and the program.

“Harri was a rock for the team going into the biggest game in program history. He has a great ability to find ways to score and help his teammates, all while being covered by the other teams LSM each game.

“He can score in many ways or create for his teammates, and that was on display in the championship game. He struck a few times early for us and in big moments, and the team fed off his play and his energy all game.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Hetrick will receive a Warrior Burn XP-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Warrior Honor Roll

Nick Luzzo, Midfield – Boston College
The Centerville, Mass., product was the engine in the Eagles win over Northeastern for the CLC title. The two-way middie had four goals, including the game-winner.

Guy Lyons, FOGO – Cal Poly
The San Rafael, Calif., native went 28-for-40 (70%) from the dot along with 13 ground balls and goal, helping the Mustangs take home the WCLL hardware.

J.T. Macedo, FOGO – Texas Christian
The Escalon, Calif., native combined to win 78 percent of his faceoffs this weekend to take down SMU and Texas A&M for the LSA crown.

Aidan Smith, Attack – Virginia Tech
The leader of the Hokie freight train, the Potomac Falls, Va., product led Tech to the ALC crown with a combined 10 goals and a helper.

Chase Underhill, Midfield – Boise State
The Broncos rolled to the PNCLL title thanks to a combined three goals and seven assists from the Meridien, Idaho, native.
