Weekend Review

No. 1 Brigham Young: Beat Westminster College 9-8.
Despite not being in MCLA action last week, the Cougars had an important scrimmage against in-state power Westminster College from the RMAC (NCAA Division II). The scrimmage was played on a cold 17-degree Tuesday night that saw the Cougars leave Salt Lake City with a hard-fought 9-8 scrimmage final. BYU named both Seth Garf and Rob Richardson as co-players of the week.

No. 18 Colorado: BYE

No. 12 Colorado State: Lost to No. 20 Arizona 14-9; Beat SDSU 14-13
The Rams traveled to Tucson last week and fell to a red hot Arizona team, 14-9. Midfielder Cole Koeberer netted five of CSU’s nine goals against the Wildcats. The Rams had a quick turn around and fought to a 14-13 overtime win against San Diego State. Koeberer would tally 10 points over the weekend.

Texas: BYE

No. 1 BYU: BYE
The Cougars prepare for a triple-header trip to California next week.

No. 18 Colorado: BYE
We won’t see the Buffs back in action until March 11.

No. 12 Colorado State:
Host Western Michigan (1-3) on Saturday afternoon. The Broncos have faced several tough opponents this year and the Rams will have a good opportunity to notch another home win on their record.

Texas:
The Longhorns welcome D-II Tulane (0-3) into Austin Saturday afternoon. After a week off, Texas should be firing on all cylinders this weekend. Look for a polished performance from the Longhorns.

No. 16 Utah Valley:
The Wolverines host first year MCLA D-III program Southern Utah (0-0) Friday night. The Thunderbirds are excited to get their program up and running.

Weekend Review

Northwest Division

No. 11 Montana State: Beat Colorado Mines 20-2; Beat Fort Lewis 20-4; Beat MSU Denver 19-12
The Bobcats bounced back nicely this weekend going 3-0 over the Southeast Division. Beating Colorado Mines, Fort Lewis and MSU Denver by a combined 59-18. Stage is set for a big RMLC matchup this weekend.

No. 17 Utah State: Beat No. 8 North Dakota State 11-4; Beat No. 12 St. John’s 7-6; Beat No. 1 St. Thomas 8-7 OT; Beat No. 6 Minn-Duluth 12-6.
Queue “Show me a Scotsman”, the true-blooded Aggies had what may have been the most impressive week so far in the MCLA. Utah State firmly planted their flag in the land northward, beating No. 8, No.12, No. 6, and No. 1. Defeating four straight ranked opponents in five days is a serious accomplishment.

To have come home with a 2-2 split would have been impressive but the Aggies fought hard all week long and played with a confident swagger. This could propel the Aggies into the D-II top spot in the new MCLA poll. The Aggies can't rest on their laurels too long as another massive test awaits them this weekend in No. 14 Northern Arizona and No. 11 Montana State. Can the Aggies make it six ranked wins in a row?

Utah: BYE
Utah had a combined practice with Utah Valley.

Wyoming: Beat Colorado Mines 12-11.
The Pokes picked up their first win of 2022 with a close 12-11 final over the Orediggers.

Southeast Division

Air Force: Lost to No. 1 St. Thomas 15-8.
The Falcons return home from Minnesota after a tough 15-8 loss to the Tommies. The Falcons had the difficult task of facing a motivated St. Thomas team that came off an overtime loss to Utah State.

Colorado Mines: Lost to Montana State 20-2; Lost to Wyoming 12-11.
The Orediggers had a rough weekend as they went 0-2 against Montana State and Wyoming.

Fort Lewis: Lost to MSU Denver 12-9; Lost to Montana State 20-4.
The Skyhawks held close against the Roadrunners but struggled mightily against the Bobcats.

MSU Denver: Beat Fort Lewis 12-9; Lost to Montana State 19-12.
The Roadrunners were able to split the weekend. Beating Fort Lewis but falling to Montana State.

Week Preview

Northwest Division

No. 11 Montana State:
Big week for the Bobcats. A showdown with No. 16 Utah State (4-2) in Logan, Utah followed by a Sunday matchup with Northern Arizona (0-1). The team that walks away from this weekend with a W between MSU/USU will have a shot at the top spot in the RMLC tourney.

Utah: BYE
We won't see the Utes in action until March 16 against BYU.

No. 16 Utah State:
No time to rest for the stampeding Aggies. Utah State plays host to No. 14 Northern Arizona (0-1) Friday afternoon at 1pm followed by a massive RMLC matchup Saturday against No. 11 Montana State (3-2). The Aggies need to refocus and gear up. All Div. II eyes will be in Logan this weekend to see if the Aggies can get six ranked wins in a row!

Wyoming:
Hosts Western Michigan (1-3) and Air Force Academy (0-1) this weekend in Laramie.
Southeast Division

Air Force:
The Falcons travel to Laramie to take on the Cowboys (1-1)

Colorado Mines: BYE

Fort Lewis: BYE

MSU Denver: BYE
