Georgia Tech Favored in SELC-I
ATLANTA – Despite featuring the defending national champion in its conference, the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) Division I league has made Georgia Tech the favorite in 2022, according to the preseason coaches poll.
The Yellow Jackets pocketed seven of the 10 first-place votes to place them in the top spot.
South Carolina, still the defending MCLA national champions from 2019, were 10 points behind Georgia Tech, which was good for second. The Gamecocks snagged the remaining three first-place votes.
Florida State was installed in the third spot while archrival Florida was just four points behind in fourth.
Auburn leads the second tier of the poll in fifth, followed relatively closely by Georgia. Alabama was slotted No. 7.
Central Florida, South Florida and Vanderbilt round out the poll.
The SELC will have an automatic qualifying berth to the 2022 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance. The event will take place at the Round Rock (Texas) Multipurpose Complex from May 9-14.
