Morgan Named Head Coach at COI
CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho Vice President of Athletics, Reagan Rossi, has announced Alan Morgan as the next head coach of the Coyote men's lacrosse program.
Morgan, who has spent the last two seasons as the Yotes offensive coordinator, replaces Matt Gier, who stepped down after 12 seasons to become C of I's Director of Residence Life.
"I am really excited for the opportunity to continue the success that this program has seen over the last few years," Morgan said. "We have a solid group of players that work hard every day and are ready to take it to the next level."
The Boise native won a state title as a player at Borah High in 2001 and transitioned into coaching, where he had a stellar run at Mountain View High. His teams won IHSLL titles in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018, while finishing as the state runner up in 2016.
Morgan joined the Coyote program during the 2020 season, which saw the Yotes score 50 goals in two games before COVID ended the remainder of the season. This past spring, C of I opted out of the MCLA season.
"I am thrilled to have Alan Morgan as our next men's lacrosse coach," Rossi said. "He has had the opportunity to work with Matt and the team the last two seasons and will be able to continue to grow the program into one of the premier teams in both the MCLA and the NAIA.
The Coyotes return the bulk of their roster from the 2021 team – two years removed from a trip to the MCLA Division II national semifinals.
"The group of guys we have understand the challenges ahead and are ready to meet them head on," Morgan said. "I am looking forward to getting back on the field and putting in the work."
