Information for 2021 MCLA Invitational
ATLANTA – The 2021 MCLA Invitational will be held on May 12-14 in Round Rock, Texas, at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.
The Invitational will consist of an 8-team field chosen by the Invitational selection committee, with a bracket that guarantees each competing program a minimum of two contests. The final game of the tournament will take place on Friday, May 12 at 10 a.m.
Below are the specifications for the Invitational, which will be updated as more information becomes available. (Latest update: April 7)
The Selection Process
A team must first become certified by their respective club sports/rec director by April 15 in order to be under consideration for the Invitational. Contact your conference director for the certification document.
Once certified, a team must play at least five games total with at least one of them coming against an MCLA program in good standing. Team may play multiple games against the same program.
Teams from both MCLA Division I and Division II are eligible for the 8-team bracket and are chosen and seeded by the 17-man Invitational selection committee. The field will be set on April 28.
Personnel
Only rostered players and coaches will be allowed into the facility during the day of games. No managers, statisticians, videographers or social media reps.
Schedule
There are four games on Wednesday followed by two consolation contests and two winner’s bracket games on Thursday. The final game of the Invitational will take place on Friday morning to allow for easy travel home Friday afternoon.
Wednesday, May 12
No. 8 seed vs. No. 1 seed: Field 9, 10 a.m.
No. 7 seed vs. No. 2 seed: Field 10, 10:30 a.m.
No. 6 seed vs. No. 3 seed: Field 9, 1:30 p.m.
No. 5 seed vs. No. 4 seed: Field 10, 2 p.m.
Thursday, May 13
Consolation #1: Loser of 1-8 game vs. Loser of 4-5 game: Field 9, 8:30 a.m.
Consolation #2: Loser of 2-7 game vs. Loser of 3-6 game: Field 10, 8:30 a.m.
Winner of 1-8 game vs. Winner of 4-5 game: Field 9, 11 a.m.
Winner of 2-7 game vs. Winner of 3-6 game: Field 10, 11:30 a.m.
Friday, May 14
Winner of two semifinals: Field 9, 10 a.m.
Facilities
The Invitational will be held at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex and two turf fields will be utilized. Games only, no practices permitted.
Entry is limited to participants and coaches. No fans, parents or alums will be allowed at the MCLA Invitational.
Travel
A detailed travel program is being created now. Those familiar with the championship production will recognize the ease in working with our official partners at Sports Tournament Concierge and our dedicated representative, Kelci Swartz.
While there won't be an “MCLA Bubble,” teams accepting the invite are bound to adhere to our travel and safety protocols which include teams arriving no earlier than Tuesday, May 11 and utilizing hotel cluster that’s seven miles from the facility. As game commitments are completed teams are expected to depart the hotel within 24 hours.
As the plan is finalized participant programs are provided a complete package listing all the options.
