UC Davis Tops WCLL D-II Poll
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Defending conference champion UC Davis has been installed as the favorite to win the 2021 Western Collegiate Lacrosse League’s (WCLL) Division II championship, according to the preseason coaches poll.
UC Davis, which was 5-1 and ranked No. 11 in the country when the 2020 campaign was concluded, was awarded three of the five first-place votes.
The Aggies finished two points clear of Sierra Nevada. The Eagles, which owned the conference crown from 2015-18, were in the second chair and garnered a first-place vote.
Just two points behind Sierra Nevada is Saint Mary’s, who also had a first-place vote.
Humboldt State and San Jose State rounded out the five-team league.
The WCLL will not be eligible for an at-large bid to the 2021 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance, which will be held in Round Rock, Texas, from May 10-15.
