CLC Division II Goes Through Rhode Island
BOSTON – Rhode Island, the defending Continental Lacrosse Conference (CLC) Division II tournament champion, has been selected as the favorite to repeat the accomplishment in 2021, according to the preseason coaches poll.
The Rams, which were 3-3 and coming of a one-goal loss to No. 2 Kennesaw State when the 2020 season was concluded, snatched up all seven of the first-place votes in the CLC poll.
Behind URI in the second chair is Central Connecticut State. The Blue Devils were 3-1 last spring, which included a win over Division I Temple to start the season.
Bridgewater State, which was the regular season CLC champion in 2019 and the recipient of the automatic qualifier to the MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance, check in at No. 3 – just a point behind CCSU.
Stonehill and New Haven round out the Top 5 of the seven-team conference.
