FAU’s Clinton Has Dominant Performance
ATLANTA – After leading Florida Atlantic to an upset victory against an in-state rival, Owls junior attackman Michael Clinton earns MCLA Division II Dominant Performance of the Week presented by Warrior for the period ending March 1.
Florida Atlantic, ranked No. 25 in the New Balance Weekly Coaches Poll, took on No. 15 North Florida at home on Sunday and the Boca Raton, Fla., product delivered for the Owls.
He scored three goals and set up four others as Florida Atlantic cruised to the 14-6 upset. Clinton also gobbled up a pair of ground balls.
For the season, Clinton has 10 goals and 15 assists and has helped the Owls race out to a 7-0 start to the season.
“Michael is a great player and an even better teammate,” said Florida Atlantic coach Stavros Neocleous. “He is always willing to do whatever it takes to put the team in a position to succeed. We couldn’t be prouder of Michael and the player he has developed into.”
For his efforts in earning the Dominant Performance of the Week presented by Warrior, Clinton will receive a new Warrior Burn 2 – a $90 value. Warrior is a proud supporter of the MCLA.
Warrior Honor Roll
Nicholas Alo, Jr. – Georgia Southern
The draw man won 16-of-19 faceoffs with 10 ground balls as the Eagles registered their first win over an MCLA Division I program against South Florida.
Nathan Criss, Jr. – Dayton
The Flyers kicked off their season in fine form, rolling to three wins, including a ranked win over MoState. Criss finished the three-game tear with 10 goals and two dimes.
Henry Ontiveros, Jr. – College of Idaho
The do-it-all middie picked up right where he left in a big win over Idaho, scoring six goals, setting up two others, snatching five ground balls while going 9-for-10 at the dot.
Hunter Pehrson, Sr. – Utah State
The Aggies rolled to wins over Wyoming and Fort Lewis, thanks to Pehrson’s production. He finished with a combined five goals and nine assists in the two contests.
