D-I Round 1: Florida at Brigham Young
PROVO, Utah – The world is constantly changing. We’re all well aware of that.
The MCLA is, as well.
Brigham Young is a testament to that.
As most of you know already, last year was the first time in the history of our association that BYU did not qualify for nationals. It was a near-miss, for sure, but their omission was symbolic as it ushered in a new era for the MCLA.
It also lit a fire under the Cougars.

This year is shaping up to be a return to the norm, so to speak, with Matt Schneck’s bunch feeling confident and soaked in talent.
The return of Mason Moon in goal is a huge revelation for the Cougars. He was phenomenal in 2017 and hasn’t missed a beat since returning.
The strength of BYU, as usual, is its depth.
The Cougars have 11 players with double-digit points, led by rookie attackman Lincoln Robbins. Sophomore middie Gavin Crist has been a versatile threat while senior faceoff man Tyler Clancy has proven to be a capable clamp man.
“We’ve got a great group of young men who have committed themselves to having a great season,” said Schneck*. “The Gators are having a terrific season and are well-coached. We look forward to having them in Provo.”
The Gators are having a great campaign. Probably the best under Garrett Hanrahan.
Senior attackman Thomas Kerry is on pace for a monster year for the Gators while sophomore Nolan Testa has emerged as a difference-maker up front.
Throw in rookie Harry Tyler and you’ve got a sophisticated attack unit.
Sophomore goalie Matt Corazon entered the season relatively untested, but has rang every bell for Florida to this point.
“We’re all on a big journey and this is just one of the stops,” said Hanrahan*. “We’re a good team. Now we have to prove it.”
