MCLA Chooses Championship Logo
ATLANTA – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the preeminent non-varsity league, is excited to unveil the winner of its logo contest for the 2020 MCLA National Championships sponsored by New Balance.
The winner of the competition is Chandler Wescott of Layton, Utah, who designed a logo that captured what the selection committee was looking for in terms of appearance and branding.
Wescott is no stranger to the MCLA, having played for the Brigham Young men’s lacrosse team until 2018 and twice earning All-American recognition. Wescott is currently finishing up classes at BYU.
“Congratulations to Chandler for helping us craft a wonderful design for our championships this spring,” said MCLA president Ken Lovic. “The fact that he was a former player testifies to the talented nature of our student-athletes.”
The logo will be featured prominently on all of the championship gear sold by Universal Lacrosse at the event, which takes place from May 4-9 in Salt Lake City. For having the winning design, Wescott will receive a gift certificate and complete package of championship gear bearing his creation.
“Lacrosse has been a huge part of life,” Wescott said. “I remember playing catch with my dad in the backyard and those are still some of my sweetest lacrosse memories to this day.
“Once I saw that the MCLA was having this competition, I knew I wanted to enter. It is a combination of two of my biggest passions: lacrosse and graphic design. The MCLA provided me many great opportunities to play at a high level during my time at BYU, so I was excited for the opportunity to give back to an organization that gave me so much.”
