San Diego’s Osmond Named Goalie of Week
ATLANTA – After posting a stifling performance in the first round of the SLC tournament, San Diego freshman netminder Jared Osmond has earned Pearl’s Division II Goalie of the Week honors for the period ending April 21.
Facing Biola with a trip to the SLC semifinals on the line, Osmond turned away 11 shots and allowed just two goals – season low for Biola – for an 84.6 save percentage.
San Diego advances to face Northern Arizona on Saturday.
“Jared has stepped up in big games for us this year, none bigger than our first round SLC playoff game against a very talented Biola team,” San Diego coach Matt Paur said. “Jared led a defense that played their best game of the season.
“Jared does a great job of making sure the defense is organized and everyone understands their assignments and roles within the defense. His ability to communicate really shines when we’re man-down as he’s led that unit to over a 90 percent kill rate on penalties.”
For his efforts in earning the Pearl’s Performance of the Week, Osmond will receive a prize package from Guardian Pearl, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian Pearl is the proud partner of the MCLA.
