Chapman’s Souza Has Top Performance
ATLANTA – By anchoring the Panthers backline in a pair of ranked wins, Chapman sophomore defensemanKyle Souza has earned MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 10.
Chapman started the week on Monday by knocking off No. 21 Northeastern. With Souza matched up with the Huskies top threat, the Panthers allowed just six goals.
On Saturday against No. 2 South Carolina, Souza’s play helped Chapman race out to a 10-4 lead at halftime and cruise home for a 15-10 victory in a national semifinals rematch.
“Kyle is the vocal leader of our defense, ride and clear,” said Chapman coach Dallas Hartley. “Just a sophomore, he has taken over leadership duties on his side of the ball, held his matchup to one point in each of the past three games and, most importantly, helped our team defense improve immensely over the last couple weeks. His leadership has been invaluable for our young group.”
For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Souza will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
