ATLANTA – Minnesota posted a 3-0 week including with a Top 15 upset thanks to sophomore defender Mitch Grengs, who earned MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending April 1.

Faced with three conferences games in three days, Grengs led the Golden Gophers to a perfect mark, which included a triumph over No. 14 Davenport.

Against the Panthers, Grengs was the catalyst in keeping Davenport to just five goals – nearly 10 goals less than DU’s season average – in a key conference matchup.

Grengs had four caused turnovers and seven ground balls in the 12-11 double-overtime victory.

In wins against Central Michigan and Western Michigan, the Farmington, Minn., product combined for a goal, nine ground balls and eight caused turnovers.

"Mitch is a big presence on the field,” said Minnesota coach Rich Limpert. “He's a 6-foot-4 tank who covers what seems like three-quarters of the field. He’s a lock-down on-ball defender, strong as an ox and has a great stick to knock down passes, win ground balls and score in transition.”

“Best of all, he’s the kind of player that gets it,” continued Limpert. “Mitch comes to practice, works his tail off and leads by example. He makes time for every one of his teammates off the field and goes all out to do what the coaches ask of him.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Grengs will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

The Seminoles attackman buried five goals and assisted on three others, helping FSU beat Central Florida and clear a huge hurdle in making the SELC tournament.

Connor Lencioni, Soph. – Santa Clara
The Broncos middie dropped five goals on USC over spring break, helping Santa Clara post an important come-from-behind victory.

Colton Michel, Jr. – UC Santa Barbara
In a 1-1 week for the Gauchos on the road, the attackman dropped six points (5g, 1a) on Colorado and four goals on Colorado State.

Jack Tunney, Soph. – Cal Poly
On their Colorado trip, the close defender had four caused turnovers and four GBs against CSU before adding six CTs and 10 GBs against Colorado.
