ATLANTA – After leading UC Santa Barbara to an upset of No. 5 Arizona State and a near miss against top-ranked Grand Canyon, Gauchos junior goalie Peter Brydon earned MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending Feb. 25.
In Friday night’s four overtime thriller against the Sun Devils, Brydon was magnificent. The San Carlos, Calif., native made 21 saves while allowing just seven goals in the Gauchos 8-7 triumph.
On Sunday, Brydon made another 13 stops to keep UCSB in the hunt against the Lopes before falling, 9-3.
In the two games against elite competition, Brydon made 34 saves while allowing just 16 goals for a 68.0 save percentage
“Peter made multiple game saving stops against Arizona State that allowed us to come back in the fourth quarter, and also made big saves in the overtimes,” said UC Santa Barbara coach Mike Allan.
“Against Grand Canyon, Peter was solid again, but we were unable to execute in all phases of the game and wasted a nice effort by him. We hope to build off of what we learned this weekend as a team and continue to get outstanding performances in the goal.”
For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Brydon will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
