SMU’s Garrott Commands
ATLANTA – With a dominating performance out of the midfield that helped Southern Methodist repeat as Lone Star Alliance champions, sophomore Tom Garrott earns MCLA Division Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending April 30.
In the LSA semifinals against No. 19 Texas – a team that beat the Mustangs during the season, 10-5 – Garrott posted a hat trick and added an assist as SMU pulled off the 13-6 upset.
In the finals against Oklahoma, another team that beat the Mustangs earlier in the year, the Memphis, Tenn., product scored a pair of goals and dished out a pair of dimes in the 14-9 triumph that sends SMU back to SoCal for the MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour.
“Tom has been clutch for our team all season,” said SMU coach Karl Lynch. “He scored the game winner against Ole Miss and hasn’t slowed down all year. His quick release and accuracy makes it hard on goalies.”
For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Garrott will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
