CCLA Tournament Locked In
PITTSBURGH – Six teams from two different divisions of the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association will descend on Chelsea (Mich.) Stadium on April 29-30 to determine the conference champions.
The winner of the four-team Division I tournament will earn an automatic qualifying bid to the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will be held in Orange County, Calif., from May 8-13. CCLA-II does not have an auto bid this spring for its three-team tourney.
Michigan State, which has won the Division I title for five straight seasons, is the No. 1 seed and will play fourth-seeded Davenport in the first semifinal. Pittsburgh and Minnesota will grind it out in the other semi.
The Division II tournament starts with a play-in game this Sunday when Grove City visits Dayton. The winner will go on to face top-seeded Grand Valley State at Chelsea Stadium after the Division I semifinals conclude.
“We’re excited to host our tournament at Chelsea Stadium,” said CCLA director Sean Buzzard. “It’s a great venue and we’ve got great teams competing for the championship this year. It should be a fun ride.”
Admission to the Chelsea Stadium is $10 per day. The Division I semifinals and finals will be streamed via CCLA Twitter/Periscope. The Division II final will be streamed via Grand Valley State Twitter/Periscope.
