Georgia Tech Atop SELC Poll
ATLANTA -- After posting a perfect regular season, winning the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) championship and advancing to the semifinals of the MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, Georgia Tech has been tabbed to win the league after a vote by the conference coaches.
The Yellow Jackets (16-1) were well clear of both second place Florida State (14-1) and third place Virginia Tech (11-6) to grab the top spot. Liberty (9-4) rounded out the top four in the 21-team league.
The SELC is broken down into four divisions, and the coaches also conducted a regional poll -- available below -- to sort out how they stacked up. South Carolina (Northeast), Virginia Tech (Northwest), Florida State (Southeast) and Georgia Tech (Southwest) were all given the nod in their respective division.
The 2017 SELC tournament will be once again held in Johns Creek, Ga., from April 21-23, with the top two teams from each division earning a spot in the quarterfinals. The rotating divisional format will pit the Northwest against the Southeast and the Northeast versus the Southwest this spring.
