Surprise! Chapman Favored in SLC
SAN DIEGO -- Fresh off an undefeated season that culminated in its first-ever national championship, Chapman was the unanimous choice to win the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference in a vote by the league's coaches.
The Panthers (22-0) swept all 11 first place votes and were 15 points clear of second-place Grand Canyon (12-5), the 2015 MCLA national champions. UC Santa Barbara (10-6) edged out Arizona State (8-7) by a lone point to take the third spot in the poll.
Arizona (7-6), San Diego State (8-7) and UNLV (5-7) all tied for the fifth spot.
Including the past two national championships, the SLC sent five teams the 2016 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will take place in Orange County, Calif., from May 8-13 this coming spring.
