SAN FRANCISCO - The Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) had one of the deepest contingents in MCLA Division I last spring, and national runner-up Cal Poly is expected to reprise its role as the top dog in the conference, according to the preseason coaches poll.
The Mustangs (18-2) received six of the eight first place votes after rolling through the WCLL undefeated in 2016. Cal Poly was ranked ahead of Cal-Berkeley (10-7), which also qualified for the MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour in '16. The Golden Bears edged out Sonoma State (7-8) despite each earning a first place vote.
Stanford (8-5) rounded out the top four.
