Spartans, Panthers Lead CCLA-I Honors
PITTSBURGH – After battling it out for the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) championship last weekend, Michigan State and Davenport led the way when the conference awards were handed out recently.
Michigan State, which defeated Davenport, 11-6, for the CCLA title, posted six players on the first team All-CCLA squad while sophomore pole Patrick Donovan was named the Defensive Player of the Year. The Spartans will face defending national champion Grand Canyon at the MCLA National Championships.
Davenport placed five players on the all-conference first team. In addition, sophomore attackman Bryan Larocque was named the Offensive Player of the Year and Chris Esquivel was tabbed Coach of the Year for the Panthers.
Pittsburgh placed three players on the first team, as well.
