UGA Participating in HEADstrong Event
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia men’s lacrosse program will be playing the University of Mississippi on Saturday, April 16, in what has been designated a “Community Game.” The proceeds from ticket sales from the contest will be donated to both the HEADstrong Foundation as well as a local high school lacrosse program.
The contest, which will be the regular season finale for these two SELC Southwest rivals, will be held at Pinecrest Academy, located northeast of Atlanta. Those attending will be asked to buy tickets to fund both the HEADstrong Foundation, which comforts cancer patients through their treatment process, along with buying equipment for the Pinecrest Academy team.
“The University of Georgia Men's lacrosse team, in keeping with our tradition of giving back to the community, is privileged to support the HEADstrong Foundation with their effort to improving lives affected by cancer,” said Bulldogs coach Billy O’Haire. “Our games at neutral venues afford us the opportunity to expand the reach of organizations like HEADstrong through lacrosse.”
In addition to the game, members of Major League Lacrosse’s Atlanta Blaze and National Lacrosse League’s Georgia Swarm will be in attendance prior to the game doing demos and interacting with fans. Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
This will be the second year that UGA lacrosse has purchased new equipment for Pinecrest.
Georgia enters the game with an 11-0 record while Ole Miss is currently 5-2. The April 16 game could very well determine who earns a bid to the SELC tournament.
