Feeley Assumes Coaching Duties at Point
WEST POINT, Ga. – Point athletic director Alan Wilson announced Thursday morning the hiring of former Emmanuel College men's and women's assistant lacrosse coach Sean Feeley as the new head men's lacrosse coach.
"This is a very exciting time for our lacrosse program as we announce the hiring of Sean Feeley," Wilson said. "He comes to Point with a lot of energy and knowledge of the game that will benefit us for years to come. We feel that Sean will come in and continue to build on the success of last season."
As an assistant coach for the Lions, Feeley primarily worked with the defenders and on face-offs during his one-year stint with EC.
"I would like to thank Coach Wilson for giving me the opportunity to lead the men's lacrosse team to achieve success on and off the field," Feeley said. "I am ecstatic to join the growing merit exhibited at Point and hope to add to the excellence in the athletics department."
Before Emmanuel, Feeley founded the Augusta Patriots Lacrosse Club in 2012 and served as the squad's head coach. The Patriots are the only high school lacrosse travel team in Augusta, Ga. He helped guide his team to the IMG National Tournament in 2013 where they finished fourth overall.
Prior to his time with the Augusta Patriots, he served as Lakeside High School's varsity assistant and junior varsity head coach.
Feeley also has served as head coach of U-11 Dirty Birds travel team in Atlanta, Ga. (2015), Trilogy Lacrosse Camp Coach (Summer 2014-2015), Rome Gladiators Youth Lacrosse Assistant Coach (2010-2012) and YMCA Augusta Lacrosse Coach (summers 2009-2013). Feeley is a certified USLacrosse coach.
As a player, Feeley was a midfielder and defender at Shorter University for two seasons (2011-12). Following his last year at Shorter, he was selected to play for the United States of America Athletes International (USAAI) Men's Lacrosse team in Berlin, Germany in June 2012 where he helped his squad finish ninth overall in the Berlin Open tournament.
In high school, he played midfielder for Lakeside High School from 2006-09. He was captain of his team his senior year and was also awarded the Christine Festa Memorial Scholarship for Character and Integrity.
Feeley is a 2013 graduate of Georgia Regents University with a bachelor's in psychology (Cum Laude). In 2015 he graduated from the University of Georgia with a master's in sport management and policy.
